SUMMARY:MT FWP Future Fisheries Improvement Program Grant Deadline
DESCRIPTION:In 1995\, Montana Legislature created the Future Fisheries Improvement Program (FFIP)\, to restore essential habitats for the growth and propagation of wild fish populations in lakes\, rivers\, and streams. In 1999\, the Legislature expanded the FFIP by adding funding from the Resource Indemnity Trust Fund (RIT) and directing a portion of the funding to projects that specifically enhance bull trout and cutthroat trout\, with emphasis on mineral reclamation projects. In 2013\, the RIT funding was expanded to all cover of Montana’s native fish species. \nProgram funding may be provided for costs of design/build\, construction\, and maintenance of projects that restore\, enhance\, or protect habitat for wild fishes. Funding cannot be used for administration\, coordination\, overhead\, monitoring\, watershed assessments\, design alone\, or contingency costs. Preference will be given to projects that restore habitats for native fishes. \nHabitat projects benefiting wild fish\, originating from virtually any source\, will be considered for funding. This includes (but is not limited to) landowners\, anglers\, civic groups\, conservation districts\, or governmental agencies. \nFor more information and access to the grant application can be found on the FWP website – http://fwp.mt.gov/fishAndWildlife/habitat/fish/futureFisheries/default.html

SUMMARY:MT DEQ Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program Grant Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Montana has a broad spectrum of citizen-based\, volunteer water quality monitoring programs. Many volunteer monitoring (VM) programs are administered by watershed groups\, conservation districts\, local water quality protection districts\, non-governmental organizations or other entities. Each group is driven by a unique set of monitoring objectives which may include watershed education for youth and adults\, collection of baseline data to study water quality status and trends\, or monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of conservation practices and restoration projects. Volunteers collect a variety of chemical\, physical and biological parameters to characterize water quality and associated habitat and flow conditions. DEQ has funding to fund the laboratory analysis and sample shipping costs of water and sediment chemistry samples collected through volunteer monitoring efforts. This funding supports projects designed to gather water quality data related to  nonpoint source water pollution. Applicants can request up to $3\,000 per project. See the Call for Applications for more information.
